How To Make Cannabis Infused Gummies The Quick and Easy Way

Recipes, Snacks · April 23, 2026

The Ultimate Guide On How To Make Cannabis Infused Gummies at Home

Welcome back, friends! Today, I’m thrilled to share a recipe of the most beloved homemade treats in the cannabis community: cannabis infused gummies. This recipe is quick and easy and perfect for beginner edibles makers. Even experienced edibles makers will appreciate this fast and potent recipe!

The Recipe: Cannabis Infused Gummies

After years of experimenting (and a little office drawer archeology), I found a simple, reliable recipe from LĒVO that uses infused coconut oil (or olive oil in my case) perfect for beginners and pros alike. Here’s what you’ll need:

Ingredients:

Recipe adapted from LĒVO. Hands on time 15 minutes. Yield: up to 85 depending on the size of your molds.

  • 1/2 cup (125ml) water
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) infused oil
  • 1/2 tsp (2.5ml) lecithin
  • four 1/4 oz packets of unflavored gelatin (1 oz or 28mg of gelatin)
  • 6 oz ( 170mg) flavored gelatin – your favorite flavor of Jello

Instructions:

  • Combine flavored and unflavored. gelatin into a small bowl and set it near the stove within reach. Set out your squeeze bottles, whisk and molds within reach too.
  • In a small dish combine the lecithin and your infused oil together and mix until completely homogenized.
  • In a small saucepan bring the water, infused coconut oil and lecithin to medium heat and whisky together until fully combined. Once the mixture starts to bubble, increase to medium heat for a rolling boil.
  • Slowly add in the gelatin while continuously whisking at the same time. Whisk together on medium-high heat for about 1 minute until fully combined and smooth.
  • Turn down heat source to low heat while continuing to whisk. The mixture should still be bubbling, but not boiling.
  • Use the dropper to fill the molds, working quickly before they start to set, then place in fridge or freezer, until they set.
  • Pop out and enjoy. Optionally, dust with a small amount or cornstarch.

Why Make Your Own Cannabis Infused Gummies?

Let’s be honest: store-bought gummies are convenient, but they come with a hefty price tag and packaging that ends up in the landfill. After a recent tolerance break, I rediscovered the joys of low-dose edibles and realized just how much more economical and customizable homemade cannabis infused gummies can be. Here’s why making your own is a game-changer:

Cost Savings: A single batch can yield 75–85 gummies for a fraction of dispensary prices. Potency Control: Tailor each batch to your personal tolerance and needs.
Flavor Freedom: Experiment with endless flavor combinations and extracts. Consistency: Achieve reliable results every time with the right technique.

The Equipment You’ll Need That You Probably Already Have

  • Gummy molds (silicone molds work best)
  • Kitchen scale
  • Measuring cups
  • Whisk
  • Squeezy bottle (think diner-style ketchup bottle, game changer!)
  • Small Saucepan
  • Small mixing bowl
  • cornstarch (for dusting finished gummies)

Step-by-Step: How to Make Cannabis Infused Gummies

Let’s break down the process and what makes these cannabis infused gummies nearly foolproof.

  1. Prep Your Workspace and Tools

Before you even turn on the stove, get everything ready. Have your molds, measuring cups, and squeezy bottle at arm’s reach. The gummy mixture sets quickly, so you’ll want to move fast once it’s ready.

Pro Tip:
A squeezy bottle makes filling molds a breeze, no more sticky messes or wasted mixture. You can find these at kitchen supply stores or online for just a few dollars.

  1. Mix Your Gelatins

In a bowl, combine two packs of flavored gelatin with your unflavored gelatin. Mix thoroughly with a fork and set aside. This blend gives your gummies both structure and flavor. No need to “bloom” the gelatin in water first, a step many recipes require. This shortcut saves time and doesn’t compromise texture

  1. Premix Infused Oil and Lecithin

This is the secret sauce for perfect gummies. Mix your infused coconut oil or olive oil with lecithin before adding it to the saucepan. Lecithin acts as an emulsifier, ensuring the oil blends seamlessly with the water and gelatin.

Why This Matters:
Skipping this step often leads to oil separating and pooling at the bottom of your molds, resulting in uneven potency and a greasy texture. Premixing guarantees every gummy is consistent.

  1. Heat and Combine

Add water, the premixed oil-lecithin blend, and heat on medium.
Whisk continuously until fully combined.
Once it starts to bubble, increase to medium-high for a rolling boil.

  1. Incorporate Gelatin Mixture

Slowly add the gelatin blend while whisking constantly.
Keep whisking on medium-high for about a minute until smooth.
Lower the heat and whisk for another minute or two, keeping the mixture gently bubbling (not boiling).

  1. Fill Your Molds

Carefully pour the hot mixture into your squeezy bottle (use an oven mitt, the bottle gets hot!).
Fill your molds quickly and evenly.

Pro Tip:
Work fast! The mixture sets rapidly, so efficiency is key.

  1. Set and Finish

Place molds in the fridge. Gummies usually set in 30–60 minutes.
Once set, pop them out and toss lightly in cornstarch to prevent sticking.

Community Wisdom:
Dusting with cornstarch is a simple trick from the Bite Me Cannabis Club that keeps cannabis infused gummies from clumping together in storage.

Customizing Your Gummies: Flavor, Texture, and Potency

Flavor Experiments

Extracts: Add a few drops of lemon, raspberry, or your favorite extract for a flavor boost. Jell-O Varieties: Mix and match different Jell-O flavors for unique color and taste combos.

Texture Tweaks

Gelatin Ratio: For firmer gummies, add a bit more unflavored gelatin. Mold Size: Use smaller molds for microdosing or larger ones for a bigger punch. Or just fun novelty molds for visual interest.

Potency Calculations

Know Your Oil: Calculate the THC/CBD content of your infused oil before starting. Batch Math: Divide total milligrams by the number of gummies to determine per-piece potency.
Adjust as Needed: Use stronger or weaker oil, or change mold size, to hit your desired dose.

Use the Bite Me Dosage Calculator to figure out your potency!

Example:
If your oil contains 210 mg THC and you make 84 gummies, each gummy will have 2.5 mg THC, a perfect microdose.

Troubleshooting & Pro Tips

Oil Separation: Always premix oil and lecithin. If you see separation, whisk more vigorously or add a touch more lecithin. Sticky Gummies: Dust with cornstarch after unmolding.
Setting Issues: If gummies are too soft, increase unflavored gelatin next time. Flavor Too Weak?: Add a few drops of extract or use more flavorful Jell-O.

Safety and Dosing: Start Low, Go Slow

Edibles are potent and metabolize differently for everyone. Effects can take 45–90 minutes to kick in, especially if you’ve eaten recently. Always:

  • Start with a low dose (2–5 mg THC per gummy is a good starting point).
  • Wait at least 2 hours before consuming more.
  • Store gummies safely, label well and keep away from children and pets.

Why This Recipe Works for Beginners and Pros

No Candy Thermometer Needed: Simple stovetop method. No Blooming Gelatin: Saves time and hassle.
Flexible and Forgiving: Easy to tweak for flavor, texture, and potency. Minimal Equipment: No fancy gadgets required, just a saucepan, whisk, and squeezy bottle.

Your Kitchen, Your Dispensary

Making cannabis infused gummies at home is empowering, fun, and deliciously rewarding. With this recipe and these tips, you’ll never look at store-bought gummies the same way again. Remember, the key steps are:

  • Premix your infused oil with lecithin.
  • Use a squeezy bottle for easy, mess-free mold filling.
  • Prep all your tools before you start.
  • Experiment with flavors and dosing to make each batch your own.

FAQ: How To Make Cannabis Infused Gummies at Home

What are the five ingredients I need? Water, infused coconut oil, lecithin, unflavored gelatin, and two packs of flavored gelatin (Jell-O). That’s it.

Can I use infused olive oil instead of coconut oil? Yes. Margaret has made this recipe multiple times with infused olive oil and gotten great results every time. The recipe is flexible on this point.

Why do I need lecithin, and can I skip it? No, do not skip it. Lecithin is an emulsifier that binds the oil and water together. Without it, the oil separates and sinks to the bottom of the molds, creating gummies with inconsistent potency and a greasy texture. Always premix the lecithin with your infused oil before adding it to the saucepan.

Do I need to bloom the gelatin first? No. This recipe skips that step entirely, and it does not affect the final texture. It is one of the things that makes this recipe faster than most.

Do I need a candy thermometer? No. The recipe uses visual cues (bubbling vs. rolling boil) rather than precise temperatures, which removes one of the more intimidating steps common to candy-making.

How many cannabis infused gummies does one batch make? Depending on your mold size, expect 50 to 85 gummies per batch.

How do I figure out the potency per gummy? Divide the total milligrams of THC or CBD in your infused oil by the number of gummies you produce. For example, if your oil contains 210mg THC and you make 84 gummies, each one is approximately 2.5mg. Use the Bite Me Dosage Calculator for more precision.

What is the best tool for filling the molds? A squeeze bottle, the kind you would find in the barbecue aisle of a kitchen or hardware store. It gives you speed and precision, which matters because the mixture starts setting quickly. A measuring cup with a spout works as a backup, but the squeeze bottle is the clear recommendation.

The squeeze bottle gets hot. What should I do? Use an oven mitt or an oven glove when handling it. The plastic heats up fast once the hot gummy mixture is inside. If you can get two gloves, even better, as gloves give more dexterity than a standard oven mitt.

How long do the cannabis infused gummies take to set? Roughly 30 to 60 minutes in the fridge. You do not need to time it precisely. Check on them after half an hour.

Why are my cannabis infused gummies sticking together in storage? Toss them lightly in cornstarch after popping them out of the molds. This prevents clumping and is a tip that came from members of the Bite Me Cannabis Club.

My cannabis infused gummies are too soft. What went wrong? Increase the amount of unflavored gelatin in your next batch. The gelatin ratio is the main lever for firmer texture.

The flavor is too weak. How do I fix that? Add a few drops of a flavor extract (lemon, raspberry, etc.) to the mixture, or experiment with more assertive Jell-O flavors. This is an area where the recipe encourages experimentation.

I see oil pooling in my molds. What happened? You either skipped premixing the oil and lecithin, or did not whisk thoroughly enough. Next time, combine the oil and lecithin before they go into the saucepan, and whisk continuously throughout the heating process. If separation is happening mid-batch, whisk more vigorously or add a small amount of additional lecithin.

How do I dose safely if I am new to edibles? Start with 2 to 5mg THC and wait at least two hours before taking more. Effects can take 45 to 90 minutes to appear, and can take longer if you have eaten recently. Always store cannabis infused gummies out of reach of children and pets.

Is this recipe suitable for beginners? Yes. Margaret describes it as “pretty hard to mess up.” It requires no blooming, no candy thermometer, and only five ingredients. The biggest beginner pitfalls (oil separation, sticky gummies, soft texture) all have straightforward fixes covered above.
