Sound familiar?

You made a batch that did nothing. Or way, way too much.

You slaved over a cannabis butter. Baked careful cookies. Took a bite and waited. Nothing. So you ate another one. Then another. Then it hit you all at once like a freight train at the worst possible moment.

Or the opposite: they tasted so strongly of cannabis you launched the rest of the batch into the backyard for the squirrels. Either way, you headed to the dispensary and paid too much for a dose that was still wrong for you.

Learning how to make cannabis edibles at home that actually work is not complicated once you understand infusion and dosing. That's exactly what Margaret teaches, and she's been doing it for over 10 years.

Your host

Hi, I am Margaret. I have been making edibles for over 10 years, and I want to help you do it better.

Bite Me started in 2019 because I could not find a podcast that treated home edibles makers like the intelligent, curious adults they are. So I made one. Now it is 350 episodes in and going strong.

I am a Certified Ganjier (currently the only woman Ganjier in Canada), a TCI Certified Cannabis Educator, and a Precision Nutrition Coach. I also spent two years working inside a dispensary. I know this world from every angle, and I bring all of it to the show.

  • Certified Ganjier, 2021 — only woman Ganjier in Canada
  • TCI Certified Cannabis Educator, 2025
  • Precision Nutrition Coach Level 1, 2015
  • Two years hands-on dispensary experience
  • Written for North Bloom, Skunk, High Moon & Fat Nugs Magazine

Common questions

What people ask before they make their first batch

How do I calculate the dose for homemade cannabis edibles?
It starts with your cannabis's THC percentage, your batch weight, and your infusion method. Bite Me's free edibles dosage calculator does the math for you and works with any infusion method or serving size.
What is decarboxylation and do I have to do it?
Decarboxylation is the process of applying heat to raw cannabis to activate its THC. Yes, you have to do it. Skip this step and your edibles will have little to no effect. The good news: it is simple, and Margaret covers exactly how to do it in the free course.
What is the best oil or fat for cannabis infusions?
Coconut oil and clarified butter (ghee) are top choices for potency because of their high saturated fat content. The right answer also depends on what you are making. Margaret covers fat and oil selection across multiple episodes in the episode library.
How long do homemade edibles take to kick in?
Typically 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your metabolism, what you have eaten, and the fat content of the edible. The most common mistake is eating more too soon. Start low, go slow, and wait the full two hours before deciding the dose did not work.
Is making cannabis edibles at home actually cheaper than buying from a dispensary?
Significantly cheaper, once you know what you are doing. A single batch of home-infused butter or oil made from a few grams of flower can produce dozens of doses at a fraction of dispensary pricing. This is one of the core reasons Bite Me exists.
Where do I start if I have never made edibles before?
The free course. It covers the fundamentals of how to make cannabis edibles at home from scratch: decarboxylation, infusion methods, dosing, and troubleshooting. No experience required, and it is completely free.
